New Milton MPP Plays Key Role In Town of Milton’s Future
While the Town of Milton, like all Ontario municipalities, is a creature of the province, developing a strong working relationship with the Government of Ontario and, ideally, being represented on the Government side of the House locally is critical to the Town’s future.
Milton’s relationship with the current Government took a another step forward in May when former Milton councillor Zee Hamid was elected Member of Provincial Parliament for Milton in a bye-election to replace former Milton MPP, the Honourable Parm Gill, who resigned to represent the Conservative Party of Canada in the next federal election in the new riding of Milton East-Halton Hills South. A month later, Zee was appointed Parliamentary Assistant to Ontario Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy, one of the more important PA roles in government at any level in Canada.
Town of Milton Ward 2 Local Councillor John Challinor II believes Zee understands what Milton requires from Queen’s Park to enhance its position over the next 30 years as one of the best places in Ontario to live, work and play. Zee represented local property taxpayers as a councillor on Milton Council and Halton Regional Council for a total of ten years.
Mr. Challinor had the opportunity to work with Zee for four years on Milton Council and looks forward to working with him now and in the future to ensure all Miltonians get what they need to live in great neighbourhoods with their families, be employed in good jobs locally and enrol their children in meaningful post- secondary education in their community.
